About Jennifer

“My goal is to improve your relationships through a better understanding of yourself.”

Let Me Introduce Myself

Hi, I’m Jennifer Wood, BBA, BSN, MCMHC, LAPC, BCC. I am a licensed associate professional counselor. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. After careers in the business and medical fields, I returned to school and became a therapist. I absolutely love it! I distinctly feel that I am doing now what I’ve always wanted in a vocation.  I consider it a great privilege to walk alongside you in your mental health journey. I maintain a focus on you, what you need to communicate, and what you need to hear at the moment. I believe we all have an inner self that longs to be seen and heard. I will meet you where you are and work collaboratively with you to meet your goals.

“Life can be hard, but we can all find joy in the small things.”

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

In my journey to becoming a therapist, I experienced the ripple effects of generational trauma and addiction. In my own journey, I have learned how to break down mental walls and live in honesty with myself. I have, and still do, spend time on the “couch side” of therapy. I recognize the courage it takes to step into the room and begin the work of self-improvement. I am committed to walking alongside you on your own personal journey, however that may look. My past careers in business and nursing also mean that I bring a breadth of experience that helps me to relate to most anyone! I genuinely love people from all walks of life and can always find some way to connect with you.

“Together we can create a path to your true self!”

What you can expect from me.

My primary area of focus is on relationships. Though this covers a wide range of challenges, I work most frequently on relationships managing trauma and childhood neglect. I specialize in working with adult relationships affected by childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, or neglect). I also love working with clients who do not have negative past experiences, but simply want to improve the relationships they have! I provide a warm environment for exploring areas of concern, and I’m committed to hearing the spoken and the unspoken, as well as helping you make meaningful connections in your life. As a therapist who is Christian, I also enjoy making spiritual connections and giving encouragement to one’s faith journey. That said, I am also completely comfortable maintaining a safe secular space for you to share your struggles openly and honestly.  I am committed to you experiencing peace and growth.

Jennifer is under the clinical supervision of Patti Smith.
